City employees form Show Me Shape Up Teams
            
								
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - In an effort to provide another opportunity to
improve health and set an example for other city employees, City of
Columbia employees are participating in the Show Me Shape Up
Competition.
	The kick-off event will be held at the Activity and Recreation
Center (ARC) on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at noon in rooms B and C. Mayor Darwin
Hindman will make remarks. The guest speaker is Brian Higginbotham, a
fitness specialist at the ARC, who will provide information about
getting started with a fitness program.
	Currently, 128 employees are organized into 15 teams of up to 10
members each. Team names are Court-er Pounders, Move It And Lose It,
Watt Watchers, Walkey - Talkeys, P.H.A.T. (Physically Healthy Actively
Tenacious), Gut-busters, Food Fighters, More Pipe, The Inspector
Gadgets, Femme FITales, Pound Pushers, Porkers, Combat Beef, The Transit
Wranglers and Critical Mass.
	Show-Me Shape Up is sponsored by University of Missouri Health
Care and is a five-month competition that encourages Missourians to
develop healthy activity and eating habits with the ultimate goal of
losing weight. Teams will have the opportunity to compete in two
categories: team weight loss and/or accumulated activity.
