Temporary sidewalk closures/restrictions in downtown area

(COLUMBIA, MO) - The city of Columbia Public Works Department
announced today that beginning Monday, June 19, PCE Inc., the contractor
working for the Columbia Special Business District, will begin the
removal of the remaining concrete canopies in the downtown area. As
construction progresses, portions of sidewalks within the block where
work is occurring will be closed and minor lane restrictions may occur.
The following is the proposed removal schedule: June 19 - June
30, north side of Broadway, 10th Street to Hitt Street; July 3 - July
14, north side of Broadway, Ninth Street to 10th Street; July 17 - July
28, south side of Broadway, Eighth Street to Ninth Street; and July 31 -
Aug. 11, south side of Broadway, Ninth Street to 10th Street.
To limit disruptions to pedestrian traffic and area businesses,
the work will occur from 5 a.m. until 11 a.m. Care should be exercised
in the construction area and alternate routes should be used.
