Start construction of the Rock Quarry Road Culvert Improvements
Project
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Department announced the
beginning of construction of a drainage improvement project across two
sections of Rock Quarry Road. Construction for this project is scheduled
to begin Monday, June 19, weather permitting.
During Phase 1 of the construction project, Rock Quarry Road
will be closed to traffic immediately north of Scarborough Drive. This
will facilitate the replacement of an existing culvert underneath the
roadway at that location. Phase 2 of the project will close Rock Quarry
Road approximately 1,000 feet further south from Scarborough Drive. This
work consists of the construction of a new reinforced concrete storm
water box underneath the Rock Quarry roadway.
Through traffic on Rock Quarry Road will not be allowed for the
duration of the project. Motorists requiring access to the southern
areas of Rock Quarry Road should utilize Gans Road as an alternate
route. Future news releases regarding the road reopening will be issued
as construction progresses.
