Draft of the city of Columbia’s Stormwater Management and Water
Quality Manual

(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Department is pleased to
announce that Mark Meyer, P.E., with Intuition and Logic Engineers of
St. Louis, will make a presentation introducing the draft of the
proposed city of Columbia Stormwater Management and Water Quality
Manual. This presentation will be Wednesday, July 12, at 7 p.m. in the
Boone County Commission Chambers at 8th and Walnut in downtown Columbia
at the regular meeting of the City/County Stormwater Steering
Committee.
The purpose of the newly drafted manual is to provide design
guidance to area engineers, developers and city staff relative to
stormwater runoff from newly developed property in order to reduce the
negative impacts to area streams and waterways from uncontrolled
stormwater runoff. The new manual addresses both water quantity and
water quality issues. This presentation is the first step in the public
review and comment process for Columbia’s Stormwater Management and
Water Quality Manual.
Mr. Meyer was hired by the city to provide technical expertise
and to facilitate the
writing of a stormwater management and water quality manual with the
assistance of city staff. The manual is patterned after the Mid America
Regional Council’s and Kansas City Chapter of the American Public
Works Association’s 5600 and Best Management Practices for Water
Quality Manuals, which Mr. Meyer worked on during their development.
The complete manual may be found on the city’s Web site at
www.GoColumbiaMo.com.
