Energy conservation fair helps people stay cool
(COLUMBIA, MO) - Anyone who wants to save money on summer
cooling costs should attend Be Cool with Columbia Water and Light on
Wednesday, June 28, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will be held at
Calvary Baptist Church, located on Worley between Hirth and Ridgeway.
During the event, Columbia Water and Light staff will review
easy do-it-yourself conservation projects in a house on Hirth Avenue.
Inside the Activities Building there will be informational displays on
energy efficiency products. Various city departments will also be on
hand to share information on staying safe and healthy this summer. The
event is free and open to the public.
Columbia Water and Light is a municipally owned utility that
encourages conservation efforts. The energy conservation fair is a way
for the utility to give Columbians the tools they need to save energy.
Connie Kacprowicz, communications specialist with Columbia Water
and Light says, No one loses when Columbians conserve. Being energy
efficient saves the customers money and it helps the environment.
Another plus is that it reduces the amount of electricity the utility
has to buy during peak summer months. When the utility saves money, it
helps keep rates low for everyone.
