Local youths win Hershey Track and Field events
COLUMBIA, MO (May 23, 2006) -- A number of participants competed in the
Hershey Track and Field Youth Program competition hosted by Columbia
Parks and Recreation on May 13 at Rock Bridge High School.
These Columbia youth won first place honors in their respective age
groups and events:
Boys, ages 9-10-Josh Broadus, 50-meter dash, 400-meter dash and
softball throw; Brian King, 100-meter dash; Jacob Kovarik, 200-meter
dash and standing long jump.
Girls, ages 9-10-Claire Bryan, 50-meter dash and standing long jump;
Kayvona Bragg, 100-meter dash; and Hannah Schweikert, 200-meter dash,
400-meter dash and softball throw.
Boys, ages 11-12-Nathan Keown, 200-meter dash; Nicholas Dale, 400-meter
dash and 800-meter run; and Jacob Schweikert, standing long jump.
Girls, ages 11-12-Hailey King, 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash;
Shiniya Daniels, 400-meter dash; Erin Forsythe, softball throw; and
Priscilla Daniels, standing long jump.
Boys, ages 13-14-Myles Cade, 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash; Austin
Ziegelbein, 800-meter run and standing long jump; Desmon Turner, Willie
Daniels, Ivan Shearer and Aaron Daniels, 4x100 meter relay; and Logan
Forsythe, softball throw.
Girls, ages 13-14-Darianna Wilson-Sanders, 100-meter dash; Kalista
Gwantney, 200-meter dash; Sha-day Maurer, Tanisha Peel, Latisha Hickem
and Darianna Wilson-Sanders, 4x100 meter relay; Latisha Hickem, softball
throw and Breanna Bragg, standing long jump.
The winners will now compete in the state meet at Jefferson City on
June 30.
The Hershey Track and Field program is designed to introduce youth ages
9-14 to different track events.
