New Gallery Guide available

(COLUMBIA, MO) - The city’s Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA)
and the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) have collaborated to
produce a Gallery Guide, an 18-page, full-color brochure detailing 25
museums, galleries and other visual art opportunities in Columbia and
neighboring communities.
The free Guide is meant to increase public awareness of visual
art in and around Columbia, and is geared towards residents and visitors
alike. Furthering the view that visual art impacts quality of life
issues and is a retail option are other goals of the Guide. It
encourages the idea of displaying art in homes and offices, pointing out
that “original art gives a space character and distinguishes it in a
way that other items cannot.”
Copies of the Guide are available at City Hall, Columbia
Regional Airport, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Office of
Cultural Affairs and the following Columbia locations highlighted in it:
a’la campagne, Arsenic Leopard, Bluestem Missouri Crafts, Brady
Gallery, Columbia Art League, Columbia College’s Sid Larson Gallery,
George Caleb Bingham Gallery, Missouri Art Gallery, the Montminy
Gallery, the Museum of Anthropology, the Museum of Art and Archaeology,
Orchids and Art, Poppy, PS:Gallery, the State Historical Society of
Missouri and Stephens College’s Davis Art Gallery.
Funding for the Gallery Guide was provided, in part, by the
Missouri Arts Council, a state agency. For more information, contact the
OCA, 573-874-6386, oca at GoColumbiaMo.com, or the CVB at 573-875-1231,
