Fall Vision Festivals offer facts, food and fun
COLUMBIA, MO (October 4, 2006) -- Individuals and families who want to
learn more about community visioning in Columbia can attend Fall Vision
Festivals over the next two weekends. Based at five local schools, the
events will provide opportunities to talk about visioning, sign up for
Citizen Topic Groups and have some fun. Festivals will take place at the
locations listed below.
Saturday, Oct. 7 at:
* Douglass High School, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
* Smithton Middle School, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
* Gentry Middle School, 3 - 6 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 14 at:
* Jefferson Junior High, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
* Lange Middle School, 3 - 6 p.m.
Assistant City Manager Paula Hertwig Hopkins said the festivals are
designed primarily to recruit persons for Citizen Topic Groups that will
start meeting in January 2007. Theres a place at the table for
everyone, Hertwig Hopkins said. We want to know their interests
and would be thrilled if 300 - 500 people wanted to join up.
Hertwig Hopkins said that the festivals also will include a big dose of
fun. Well have free hotdogs, chips and beverages. Well have
music and creative kids activities. Were expecting great weather
and a great fall family experience.
Hertwig Hopkins said that citizens can attend the festival most
convenient for them. There is no need to attend all seven events.
Citizens are welcome to stay five minutes or take more time. With the
gracious support of the Columbia Public Schools, well be in various
parts of the community at times that we hope will fit families
schedules.
