Background: On July 17, 2006, City Council members unanimously
expressed commitment to a community visioning process and to
implementing a vision plan (Council Resolution 162-06). They made this
decision after learning about other cities experience with visioning
and based on support voiced by citizens at a May 8 visioning forum and
follow-up surveys.
R162-06 also authorized the request for visioning consultant proposals.
Of the eight consultants offering proposals, only ACP Visioning and
Planning and National Civic League met all bidder qualifications. The
Sponsors Council will consider those offerings on Sept. 6 and make a
recommendation that the City Council will review on Sept. 18.
In advance of the meeting, the public may view these proposals at the
Columbia Public Library, 100 W. Broadway; at the information desk, main
floor, Daniel Boone Building, 701 E. Broadway; and online at
www.GoColumbiaMo.com (click on Imagine Columbias Future).
