Free festival performances number more than
40									
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - More than 40 live performances will be featured
at the 15th annual Columbia Festival of the Arts in downtown Columbia,
Sept. 23- 24, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
	Performances of jazz, folk, bluegrass, classical, interactive
drumming, contemporary dance, classical ballet, children’s theater,
puppetry and storytelling will fill three different stages throughout
the Festival weekend.
	Musicians and dance groups performing on Courthouse Square Stage
include:
*	Jeff Arrigo*vocal and guitar
*	Heart of Missouri Chorus*women’s a cappella barbershop chorus
*	Swing DeVille*Western Swing, Bluegrass, Big Band, Gypsy and New
Orleans Jazz
*	Afi Ama (Kunami Mtendaji)*African dance, music, folklore and
culture
*	Pythons Drill Team of Kansas City*drill and dance team
*	Fried Crawdaddies*rock, blues, country and jazz
*	Stephens College Dance Company*jazz, modern, musical theatre and
ballet
*	Forté & Roe*jazz
*	Kim Waller*vocal and guitar
*	Dancearts of Columbia...modern dance
*	Hilary Scott Band*folk rock 
*	Universal Drum Appeal...interactive drumming & percussion

Artists on the Literary Arts Stage include:
*	One Read Project, Daniel Boone Regional Library...readings from
The Tortilla Curtain
*	Hickman Review...Hickman High School literary arts group
*	Melissa Witherington*prose
*	Jane Austen Society...costumed performances of Austen’s
writings
*	Columbia Chapter of the Missouri Writer’s Guild...essays,
poetry and short stories
*	Harbinger...Stephens College literary magazine
*	Betty Cook Rottmann*reading from her work, Transposing Life

	Additional special performances planned in the Visual Arts Area
on Saturday and Sunday  include classical music by Prairie Strings,
Bamboo Steve, bamboo flute and Kim Waller, vocals and guitar.
	The Festival is free and open to the public. It will be held at
the Boone County Courthouse Square and surrounding streets in downtown
Columbia Sept. 23- 24, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
