MEDIA ADVISORY
September 12, 2006

WHAT: Council Work Session/Special Meeting/Public Hearing. The City
Council will hold a public hearing to receive citizen input on the
proposed smoking ordinance.  Citizens are encouraged to participate.

BACKGROUND: The proposed smoking ordinance is scheduled for
introduction at the September 18 City Council meeting and held over for
this public hearing/special meeting. City staff will provide the City
Council with an update on the smoking ordinance before the special
meeting and public hearing.

WHEN: Monday, October 9, 2006.  The City Council will start with a work
session at 6 p.m., followed by a special meeting and public hearing at 7
p.m.  Please note that the previously reported date of October 5 is
incorrect.

WHERE: Council Chambers, City Hall, 701 E. Broadway, 4th floor.
