Hinkson Creek watershed restoration tree planting scheduled

COLUMBIA, MO (September 19, 2006) -- Columbia Parks and Recreation is
teaming up with Show Me Clean Streams to plant almost 500 trees as part
of the Hinkson Creek Watershed Restoration Project. 

The tree planting will take place at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, at
the Scott Boulevard access to the MKT Trail. Columbia Mayor Darwin
Hindman will assist city staff and volunteers in the tree planting. 

The trees will planted on a 9-acre tract along the Hinkson Creek. Each
one will be a in a three-gallon container. 

Volunteers are needed to help plant the trees. To volunteer, contact
the city’s Office of Volunteer Services at 874-7499 or
volunteer at GoColumbiaMo.com.
