City Public Communications Department names new communications officer

COLUMBIA, MO (February 21, 2007) -- City Public Communications Director
Toni Messina today announced the appointment of Renee Graham to the
position of public communications officer, effective March 5. Graham
will be paid an annual salary of $56,152 in addition to other authorized
employee benefits.

Graham will coordinate various public information efforts including
Columbia’s community visioning education and outreach strategy, the
Columbia Submarine Committee, international Sister Cities relationships
and supervision of city print and mail services.

A city employee since 1990, Graham has worked for the Convention and
Visitors Bureau (CVB) as tourism marketing and communications manager.
Her work has included group tour marketing, cooperative advertising and
a variety of leisure travel marketing programs. Graham worked
extensively with travel journalists and was responsible for brochure
development and content in the Columbia visitor guide and on the CVB Web
site. She received a bachelors degree from Columbia College in 1989.

Messina said that Graham was chosen from a field of 83 applicants.
“We advertised widely and were very pleased with our field. Renee’s
experience and skill in forging creative partnerships with diverse
individuals, however, really set her apart. She will bring a new,
energetic dimension to city communications across the board.”

Graham replaces Robert Ross, who retired from the position in January.
