Ceremony planned for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

COLUMBIA, MO (January 8, 2007) -- A candlelight walk and ceremony will
be held Monday, Jan. 15, to honor and celebrate the birthday of Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr. The walk will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Douglass High
School. Participants will proceed from the high school to St. Paul AME
Church at 501 Park. A service will be held at the church starting at 7
p.m.

Participants are asked to gather at the Douglass High School gym
starting at 6 p.m. They can either bring their own candle or some will
be available for $2 each. 

The event is cosponsored by Columbia Parks and Recreation and the Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Assoc. of Black Studies at the
University of Missouri.
