Renovations planned at Cosmo-Bethel Park 

COLUMBIA, MO (January 8, 2007) -- Columbia Parks and Recreation
construction crews will begin constructing a new picnic shelter at
Cosmo-Bethel Park this week. The shelter is only one of the major
improvements planned at the park; a new parking lot to serve the shelter
and a new playground will be built over the next few months. 

The new shelter and parking lot will be located on the west side of the
park, with access from Bethel Street. When completed, the shelter will
be available by reservation for special events. 

As weather permits, demolition of the existing playground will begin to
make way for the construction of a new playground. 

The cost of the shelter, parking lot and playground is $175,000, funded
in part by the parks sales tax.
