Volunteer Program accepting donations

(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Volunteer Program is now
accepting donations for an upcoming children’s art program at the
Columbia Festival of the Arts. Children will make art masterpieces with
recyclable and reusable materials at the event. This project is one of
many hosted by the city to create awareness about local waste reduction
opportunities. The Public Works Volunteer Program asks residents to help
with this project by collecting material they normally recycle or throw
away.
	The following items are needed:
	●	Beads, lace, ribbon, yarn
	●	Colorful calendars, greeting cards or paper
	●	Fabric and felt scraps
	●	Flower catalogs, art and nature magazines
	●	Plastic 6-pack rings from soft drinks
	●	Other unwanted craft items
	●	Unwanted CD’s

Donations need to be dropped off by Sept. 21 at the Grissum
Building, 1313 Lakeview (one block west of the city power plant and one
block north of the Business Loop). Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
Monday through Friday. Please place items in a bag or box for easier
handling. Donations need to be clean and dry with no sharp edges.
If you have questions, please contact the Public Works Volunteer
Program at (573) 874-6271 or visit our Web site at www.GoColumbiaMo.com
(search: GoPublicWorksVolunteer).
