Douglass baseball registration ongoing
COLUMBIA, MO (March 20, 2007) -- It’s time to sign up for summer
baseball! The Columbia Parks and Recreation Department and Douglass
Athletic Association are still accepting registrations for Douglass
Bulldogs baseball. The Douglass baseball program is an instructional
league for both boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 10. The league
is non-competitive; having fun and learning to play baseball are the
program’s main goals.
The league starts June 11 and runs through July 26. Games will be
played on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings with some
possible Friday evening games at Douglass Park (Providence and Rogers
streets). Players will receive a league hat and shirt.
Players ages 5 and 6 will play tee ball, players ages 7 and 8 play
coach pitch, and players ages 9 and 10 play kid pitch.
Registration is $15 per child. Registrations postmarked after April 2
will be charged $20 per child. Registration forms can be picked up at
the Columbia Parks and Recreation office at #1 S. 7th Street, the Armory
Sports Center at 701 East Ash and the ARC at 1701 West Ash or online at
http://www.GoColumbiaMo.com/ParksandRec/.
Volunteers are needed as coaches and umpires. To volunteer, contact
Camren Cross at 874-6378.
