Columbia Water Quality Report
available
(COLUMBIA, MO) - Columbia Water and Light will mail the annual
Water Quality Report to all utility customers during May. It explains
the source of Columbia’s drinking water and lists any substances found
in measurable quantities during testing. Of the 83 regulated substances
Columbia’s water is tested for, traces of only 10 substances were
found. All of these substances were well below allowable levels set by
the Environmental Protection Agency. Since the McBaine Water Treatment
Plant opened in 1972, no violation of federal or state drinking water
standards has occurred.
The Water Quality report is sent out yearly, in compliance with
the Environmental Protection Agency’s Safe Drinking Water Act. The
report is also available in the lobby of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway, on
the Internet at www.GoColumbiaMo.com or by calling 874-7325 to have one
mailed.

year on samples from 40 locations throughout the distribution system.
Not listed in the 2006 Water Quality Report being mailed to customers
are the many contaminants for which the water was tested, but none was
detected. Those interested in a complete listing of all water quality
test results can view the report on the city’s Web site or can request
a copy be mailed to them from Columbia Water and Light.
