Schools participate in Bike, Walk & Wheel Week
(COLUMBIA, MO) - Schools throughout Columbia, both public and
private, continue to show support for Bike, Walk & Wheel Week (BWWW)
through increased participation. This year, more than 1,500 students and
family members at 13 public and four private schools have committed to
building active travel into their schedules during BWWW.
Additionally, these schools will participate in Breakfast
Stations Day on May 18. Some schools will set up their own breakfast
stations at school, while others will take advantage of the already
established stations. Those schools located in non-walkable parts of the
city will have a walk at their school and a breakfast.
Field Elementary School is supporting BWWW in a very unique way.
Students and staff will meet at school May 18 and the entire school will
then walk to a special breakfast station set up for them by Columbia
College. The school is using the entire first period for the walk and
breakfast-a true commitment to encourage active living.
Contact either Ian Thomas or Margy Tonnies for the contact
information for organizers at the individual schools.
