Interstate 70 closed for 10 minutes on Sunday

(Columbia, MO) -- Columbia Water & Light will remove an overhead
utility line on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 7 a.m., weather permitting. The work
will require closing all lanes of Interstate 70, just west of the West
Boulevard interchange, including the eastbound exit ramp. The work is
expected to take less than 10 minutes.
After the utility line has been removed over Interstate 70, the
section of line that crosses Business Loop 70 West will be taken out.
This will require the Business Loop, between the highway access ramps
and the intersection with Interstate 70 Drive Southwest to be closed for
less than 10 minutes. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes
during this time frame on Sunday to avoid delays.
These overhead utility lines are being removed as part of the
project to move the electric lines underground in this area. The project
is part of the electric department’s Capital Improvement Plan. The
contracted firm, Par Electric, will perform the work.
