Powering Columbia’s Future
Wednesday, November 28, 2007
6:30 p.m.
City Hall, 701 E. Broadway
Council Chambers

(COLUMBIA, MO) -- The Power Supply Task Force is asking for the
public’s input on Columbia’s long-term power supply. At this event,
electric supply options and efficiency programs to limit our demand for
electricity will be reviewed. There will then be an opportunity for
public input.
The presentation will be broadcast live on the Columbia Channel,
Mediacom channel 13 and Charter Communications channel 2.
If Columbians have comments about future power supply options,
they can e-mail wlmail at GoColumbiaMo.com or send them to Water & Light
Administration, P.O. Box 6015, Columbia, Mo., 65205.
This public meeting is the first step in the integrated resource
plan being conducted by the engineering firm Burns and McDonnell. An
integrated resource plan is a comprehensive way of securing energy for
the long term. It will provide the information needed to provide
reliable, cost-effective and environmentally sensitive energy to
Columbia. Programs to reduce the demand for electricity will also be
evaluated. After the research has been completed in the first quarter of
2008, another public meeting will be held to review the results.
