Public Works Department promotes employee

(COLUMBIA, MO) - Columbia Public Works Department Director John
Glascock announces that Steve Hunt has been appointed as the new manager
of environmental services for the city of Columbia. Hunt, who started
his new position Oct. 8, previously served as the city’s civil
engineer for sewer utility eight years.
Hunt will be responsible for a variety of engineering tasks
involving environmental issues, including the city’s new sewer master
plan and storm water management and water quality manual, both adopted
by the City Council earlier this year. He will coordinate engineering
designs, plans and specifications for the construction of Columbia’s
storm water, sanitary sewer and solid waste projects.
“Steve’s expertise on local environmental issues will be
important to Columbia’s future as we move forward to serve the needs
of our growing community,” Glascock said.
Hunt will also be responsible for ensuring the city’s
compliance to EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and MDNR (Missouri
Department of Natural Resources) regulations.
Hunt, who is from Cairo, Mo., earned his bachelor of science
degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Additional questions can be directed to the Public Works
Department at (573) 874-7250.
