Traffic and Parking during “Tour of Missouri”
COLUMBIA, MO (September 13, 2007) - As the community welcomes residents
and visitors for Stage 4 of the Tour of Missouri bicycle race on
September 14, City officials offer advice for those coming to or passing
through the downtown area. The patience of citizens and business owners
is appreciated.
Route within Columbia City Limits
Anyone on the route (shown below) can expect a 15 - 30 minute "rolling
closure” of access to cross roads and driveways. The rolling closure
will happen sometime between 2:00 - 4:30 p.m. For more exact route
times, please go to www.TourOfMissouri.com . Both KBXR (102.3 FM) and
KTGR (1580 AM) will be cutting in with specifics on the racers’
location.
Rangeline Road to New Haven Road
New Haven, crossing over Highway 63 and turning on to Grindstone
Parkway
Grindstone Parkway, turning on to Rock Quarry Road
Rock Quarry Road, crossing Stadium Boulevard and becoming College
Avenue
College, crossing Broadway and turning east on Walnut Street
Walnut, finishing at Eighth Street
Closed Streets
The Stage 4 finish line will be at Eighth and Walnut streets. The
streets below will be closed to all but pedestrian traffic from 8 a.m. -
6 p.m. Friday, September 14.
Eighth Street, from Broadway to Walnut and from Ash to Park
Walnut, from Seventh - Ninth Streets
Ash Street, from Seventh - Ninth Streets
Parking
Parking in downtown Columbia will be very limited. Citizens are
encouraged to use free, satellite parking at the former Osco parking lot
at Providence Road and Broadway and at the former Wal-Mart parking lot
at Providence and Nifong Boulevard and take shuttle buses running from
7am - 6 pm, dropping off at the southeast corner of Sixth and Walnut
Streets.
