2008 Bike, Walk & Wheel Week honorary co-chairs-Richard and Patty King
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The seventh annual Bike, Walk & Wheel Week is
May 3-10, and the planning committee is happy to announce Richard and
Patty King as the 2008 honorary co-chairs. Richard and Patty are
well-known Columbia residents with a passion for community involvement
and participation.
Richard came to Columbia from northeastern Pennsylvania. In 1980
he founded The Blue Note, and in 1998 he purchased Mojo's. This year, he
will celebrate his fifth year with Ninth Street Summerfest, and serve as
the entertainment coordinator for the second annual Roots 'n Blues 'n
BBQ Festival. A former KOPN board member, Richard currently serves on
the Central Columbia Association board.
Patty King moved to Columbia in 1987 and is a graduate of the
University of Missouri. She and Richard are the proud parents of
Patrick, 11, and Nick, 8. In addition to working behind the scenes at
The Blue Note and Mojo's, Patty is a dedicated volunteer at her
children's schools and throughout the community.
Bike, Walk & Wheel Week is an opportunity to build physical
activity into daily routines, and to identify safety issues that need to
be addressed to make Columbia a walkable, bikeable, wheelchair-friendly
city. The planning committee invites you to take the challenge and leave
your car at home during this week while commuting to school and work or
running a few errands.
Check out www.pednet.org or www.getaboutcolumbia.com for a
schedule of events and to register for the week. For more information,
contact Chris Walthall at (573) 442-7189, extension 31, or by email at
chris at pednet.org.
