Downtown Leadership Council will meet tomorrow
COLUMBIA, MO (April 28, 2008) -
When: Tuesday, April 29 - starting at 7 p.m.
Where: Mezzanine Conference Room, Daniel Boone Building, 701 E.
Broadway
What: Organizational meeting for Council - discussion will include
defining downtown boundaries; identifying current assets and
opportunities.
Background: 16-member group established by ordinance March 17, 2008
Duties
1. Develop and recommend to the City Council proposed boundaries of an
expanded downtown development concept plan and study area.
2. Assess current assets and additional opportunities within the
expanded study area that would assist in the area’s redevelopment.
3. Advise city staff and consultants on preparation of a
blight/conservation study and preparation of a Missouri Downtown and
Rural Economic Stimulus Act (MODESA) application.
4. Develop for City Council consideration, a strategic plan for the
area and an underlying concept plan, similar to the plan prepared for
the downtown area by Sasaki Associates. The Sasaki plan should be used
as a base for the expanded area.
5. Recommend to the City Council possible development guidelines and
physical attributes for downtown Columbia.
6. Work on other projects requested by the City Council.
