Health Department invites teens to think safe - Love and Basketball
Challenge
COLUMBIA, MO (August 1, 2008) - The Columbia/Boone County Health
Department, in conjunction with Columbia Parks and Recreation, is
holding a basketball challenge/tournament for teens between 13-16 years.
This event will be held on Aug. 8, from 5:30-10:30 p.m., and Aug. 9,
from 9-5:30 p.m. Basketball teams will compete in their age groups
(League 1 - 13-14 year-olds, League 2 - 15-16 year-olds) and learn about
healthy lifestyle choices. Female teens are encouraged to compete also.
Team entry fees are $25 and free food along with T-shirts and door
prizes will be given away. Parents are invited to attend and will
receive opportunities to win gas cards.
The challenge will be located at the Armory, 701 E. Ash St. Interested
teams must register beforehand by calling Maureen Coy at (573)
874-7559.
This event is also sponsored by YC2, The Boone Electric Community Trust
and the First Ward Ambassadors.
