Volunteers sought for First Night 2009
(COLUMBIA, MO) - Volunteers are needed to assist with
festivities for First Night, an alcohol-free New Year’s Eve event.
First Night activities will be held at locations throughout downtown
Columbia and Stephens College on the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 31.
Volunteer tasks include serving as ushers and button checkers,
helping with children’s activities and assisting as stage hands.
Volunteer shifts are 2-3 hours. Opportunities to help are also available
for youth and families.
First Night activities include music, dance and art, with
representation from many genres and cultures. Activities are held at 14
locations throughout downtown Columbia and Stephens College.
Volunteers receive a complimentary admission button allowing
them to enter all First Night venues before or after their shift. Anyone
interested in volunteering should contact the city’s Office of
Volunteer Services at 874-7499 or volunteer at GoColumbiaMo.com.
