Public hearing calling for special election for city wastewater
treatment improvement plans

(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Department announces a public hearing
calling for a special election relating to the issuance of Sewer System
Revenue Bonds for the purpose of constructing improvements to the
city’s wastewater treatment facility and sanitary sewer collection
system. The public hearing will be held Monday, Jan. 7, during the
regularly scheduled City Council meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. in the
Council Chambers, fourth floor of the Daniel Boone Building, 701 E.
Broadway.

The project calls for a special election on the question of whether to
issue sewer system revenue bonds in the amount of $77 million for the
purpose of constructing, extending, expanding, improving, repairing,
replacing and equipping the city-owned sanitary sewer system. If the
ordinance is approved, the election will be held Tuesday, April 8, 2008.
It is anticipated the bonds will be issued over a five-year period and
will be repaid by sewer user charges.

If you have any questions about the public hearing, please contact the
Public Works Department at (573) 874-7250, or see information online at
www.GoColumbiaMo.com.
