Columbia/Boone County Health Department launches 'Columbia Cooks'

COLUMBIA, MO (January 14, 2008) - The Columbia/Boone County Health
Department will host the first in the series of the 2008 “Columbia
Cooks” on Jan. 19 at 12:30 p.m. in the department’s main training
room.

Mark Sulltrop, executive chef of Bleu Restaurant and Wine Bar of the
Tiger Hotel, will present ideas and educate the audience on buying local
foods and adding a personal touch to traditional dishes. The program
will be taped for broadcast on the city's Columbia Channel.

The audience will have the opportunity to meet the chef, ask questions,
sample foods and win door prizes.

Funded by a grant from the Missouri Foundation for Health, “Columbia
Cooks” will offer exciting new ways to shop, cook and eat healthy in
the new year. Guest chefs will focus on a variety of approaches
including: using local markets and produce, learning simple recipes,
cooking with children and preparing meals for singles and couples.

The event is free and open to the public, however seats are limited.
