'Let's Talk, Columbia!' 2008 Facilitator Training
COLUMBIA, MO (January 14, 2008) - The Human Rights Commission is
inviting mature teens and adults from all backgrounds to participate in
study circles facilitator training. They will have the opportunity to be
part of the inter-generational team of volunteers at "LET'S TALK,
COLUMBIA! 2008" - an annual event for citizen dialogue.
Trainees will learn to guide inclusive small-group dialogue among
diverse participants addressing challenging topics. They will develop
other valuable skills applicable and beneficial in both personal and
professional arenas. Trained volunteers will be an important asset to
the community as it pursues future discussions about hard issues and
ideas for action and change in the future.
Trained facilitators will assist Feb. 22-23 at "LET'S TALK, COLUMBIA!"
The theme for this year's event is "One Community, All Generations -
Teens and Adults Working Together." There will be inter-generational
small-group dialogue to build understanding across differences and to
explore how to make the community a better place for young people.
Facilitator training will be Friday, Feb. 1, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. and
continuing Saturday, Feb. 2, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. There is no cost.
