City Hall construction project begins

COLUMBIA, MO (May 16, 2008) - The city of Columbia Public Works
Department announces that beginning today areas around the Daniel Boone
Building will be closed off as construction begins for Phase II of the
City Hall Expansion Project. These following areas will be affected:

-- Traffic on Eighth Street is one-way only from Broadway to Walnut,
northbound.
--Guitar Street, on the east side of the Daniel Boone Building will be
closed.
--Parking on Broadway from Eighth to Guitar streets will be blocked
off.
--The sidewalks on Eighth and Broadway streets will both be blocked off
in the construction area.
--There will be NO PARKING in the back of the Daniel Boone Building
from Eighth to Seventh Street. This area is reserved for construction
vehicles only.
--Entrance to the Daniel Boone Building on Broadway and the rear
entrance, as well as the customer drive-thru, will remain open. The
drive-thru will only be accessible from the Seventh Street side.

A groundbreaking ceremony is planned for Wednesday, May 21, at 8:30
a.m., at which time the annex building at Eighth and Broadway will be
demolished to make room for the new expansion. This project is expected
to be complete in the fall 2010. More information about the expansion
