Injured Columbia firefighter released from hospital, investigation
continues
COLUMBIA, MO (May 17, 2008) - Columbia Fire Department Lieutenant Tom
Ogden, who suffered second-degree burns to his hand while fighting an
intentionally set fire, has been released from University Hospital's
George Peak Burn Unit. No other injuries were reported during the 4:48
a.m. fire.
The vacant home, located at 908 Madison Street, was heavily damaged in
the blaze. Columbia Fire Department crews arrived and found heavy fire
conditions, which had already burned through the roof of the home.
Damage to the home is estimated at $43,000 and is a total loss.
Investigators from the Columbia Fire Department have determined the
fire was intentionally set using an undetermined ignitable liquid.
Evidence was recovered from the scene and is being sent to the Missouri
State Highway Patrol Crime Lab for analysis. Anyone with information
relating to this arson, or believe they witnessed any suspicious
activity in the area of the fire, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at
573-875-TIPS (8477).
