Presentation on long-term power supply options
(Columbia, MO) -- “Powering Columbia’s Future” will be
held on Wednesday, May 28, at 6:30 p.m. at 701 E. Broadway in the
council chambers to review the options being researched for Columbia’s
long-term power supply. The Power Supply Task Force is hosting the
meeting to let the public know what electric supply options and
efficiency programs are being considered in the draft of the Integrated
Resource Plan. The task force wants to get input from the public before
the plan is finalized and forwarded to the Columbia City Council.
An Integrated Resource plan is a comprehensive way of securing
energy for the long term. It will supply the information needed to
provide reliable, cost-effective and environmentally sensitive energy to
Columbia. Programs to reduce the demand for electricity have also been
evaluated. The Integrated Resource Plan is being conducted by the
engineering firm Burns and McDonnell.
The presentation will be broadcast live on the Columbia Channel,
Mediacom channel 13 and Charter Communications channel 2.
