Nine recruits graduate from Columbia Fire Department 

COLUMBIA, MO (November 17, 2008) - The Columbia Fire Department is
proud to announce the graduation ceremony for Basic Recruit School
2008-2. The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. in the
Columbia City Council Chambers, Daniel Boone Building, 701 East
Broadway. The public is cordially invited to attend. The Columbia Fire
Department's award-winning color guard will present the colors, followed
by remarks from Fire Chief William Markgraf. Refreshments will be served
following the ceremony.

Basic Recruit School 2008-2 is comprised of seven recruit firefighters
from the Columbia Fire Department and two from the Sedalia Fire
Department.

This ceremony is the culmination of a rigorous 11-week training program
consisting of both classroom and practical skills evaluation which
provides a knowledge base, and initial state of Missouri certification,
as these new firefighters begin their fire service career. Columbia Fire
Department recruits will be placed onto a shift in the Emergency
Services Division, where they will be assigned to a veteran field
training officer for further training, guidance and evaluation for the
next 18 months. Graduating recruits are:

Columbia Fire Department: Ryan Adams, Tyler Beauchamp, Jon Cook, Wesley
Hanks, Jeff Heidenreich, Samantha Lamp, Doug Ritchie

Sedalia Fire Department: Nathaniel Nevels, Kyle Gilmore
