Public hearing for Columbia Transit fare increases
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The Public Works Department announces a public hearing
concerning fare increases for Columbia Transit to be held Monday, Sept.
15, during the regularly scheduled City Council meeting, which begins at
7 p.m. in the Council Chambers, fourth floor of the Daniel Boone
Building, 701 E. Broadway.
Columbia Transit will ask Council to establish a new fee structure for
the public transportation system, which has not changed in more than 22
years. The fare increases are needed to defer some of the expense of the
existing service, including rising fuel cost. If approved, adult fares
would increase from 50 cents to $1 and children, student, Medicaid and
senior citizen fares would increase from 25 cents to 50 cents. Public
comment is welcome at the public hearing.
If you have any questions about the public hearing, please contact the
Public Works Department at (573) 874-7250.
