GetAbout Columbia Errand Bikes program encourages businesses to give
employees pedal power

(COLUMBIA, MO) - Finding parking and fighting traffic during
workday errands can make for a frustrating trip outside the office.
GetAbout Columbia’s new Errand Bikes program invites employees to
trade the hassle for fresh air and a bike ride. Business owners are
encouraged to take advantage of this free program, which provides a
bike, helmet, locks, lights, rear racks and cargo bags at no cost to the
business.
Aside from employees feeling healthier and more productive, the
program has the potential to save businesses money. The cost of
operating a bicycle is one-tenth that of operating a car. The goal of
the program is to eliminate many short car trips around town and to
demonstrate the ease and benefits of cycling for daily errands.
Participants can check out the errand bike at their workplace
for work-related and personal errands and off-site meetings. Employers
have the option to offer extended checkout for up to 48 hours if they
choose.
Participating businesses do not incur any outside costs for the
program; they need only provide proper insurance documentation. A free
bike safety course will be conducted at the best-suited location for
each business.
Interested in an errand bike for your business? Contact the
GetAbout Columbia office at (573) 442-7189, ext. 31.
