Festival to celebrate the arts	
								
	(COLUMBIA, MO) - The 17th annual Columbia Festival of the Arts
will bring performing, visual and literary artists to downtown Columbia
on Sept. 27- 28, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
	Visual artists will exhibit and sell their work, in the
categories of ceramics, drawing/pastels, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal
works, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and
wood. Artwork by Columbia students, elementary through senior high
school, will be on display in the Boone County Government Center.
	Fifty live performances of dance, music, theater, storytelling
and literary readings by local authors will take place on three stages.
Highlights of the performing schedule are Dancing Wheels, I am Kenny J
and performer and poet, Matt Mason. In conjunction with his festival
appearances, Mason will give poetry workshops and Hickman and Rock
Bridge high schools on Monday, Sept. 29.
	Activities for children at the festival will include painting,
hand-building with clay, face painting, performances of dance,
storytelling, comedy and juggling. A variety of food vendors will be on
hand.		
	The festival is free and open to the public. It will be held at
the Boone County Courthouse Square and surrounding streets in downtown
Columbia.

The Columbia Festival of the Arts is a program of the City of Columbia
