Public invited to report and remove graffiti

(COLUMBIA, MO) - The city of Columbia invites the public to help
keep our city looking good - first by reporting graffiti, and second by
participating in a volunteer graffiti removal workday.
Recently, the city created a hotline for residents to report
graffiti so staff, property owners and volunteers can aim toward a
speedy removal. Citizens may report graffiti by calling (573) 441-5485
or sending an e-mail to bpcantin at GoColumbiaMo.com. If the graffiti is on
a private residence or business, callers are asked to leave the address,
as well as the area of the property where it is located. If the graffiti
is in the public right-of-way, such as a light post or traffic sign, as
much information as possible should be left to assist the city in
locating it-this includes the side of the street it is on, nearby
intersections, etc.
Graffiti that is reported may then be part of a cleanup day
scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 27, by Karis Community Church, focusing on
downtown Columbia. Community members are invited to join the event that
will run from 9 a.m. to noon with volunteers meeting at the Cherry
Street Artisan, 111 S. Ninth St. This will be the third graffiti removal
workday led by the church. Those interested in volunteering should call
the city’s Office of Volunteer Services at 874-7499 or Rob Gaskin,
with Karis, at 529-0909.
