Senator Bond to attend ribbon-cutting ceremony for first GetAbout
Columbia project at Stewart and Providence
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The city of Columbia and Mayor Darwin Hindman
invite the public to a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the
completion of the first GetAbout Columbia infrastructure project. The
ribbon cutting and plaque dedication will be held Friday, April 17, 9:30
a.m., at the intersection of Stewart and Providence Road.
Senator Christopher S. “Kit” Bond will be on hand to help
cut the ribbon. Senator Bond played a key role in the creation of the
Nonmotorized Transportation Pilot Program and Columbia's selection as
one of the four pilot communities.
The first major construction project at the intersection of
Stewart and Providence Road includes the addition of pedestrian crossing
signals, better trail access, lighting and drainage improvements and new
sidewalk on the south side of Stewart.
Parking is available near Flat Branch Park with free Pedicab rides
available from the park to the ceremony. Prior to the ribbon cutting,
Senator Bond will walk with the Walking School Bus program at West
Boulevard Elementary. Following the ribbon cutting and plaque
