Parks and Recreation increases recycling efforts

COLUMBIA, MO (April 23, 2009) - Columbia Parks and Recreation has
increased its recycling efforts by installing 60 additional recycle bins
for aluminum and plastic containers at various park locations.

Most of the new containers will serve the high-use outdoor sports
complexes at Cosmo and Albert-Oakland parks. The Mid-Missouri Solid
Waste Management District provided grant funding in the amount of $4,721
to purchase the recycle bins and the Parks and Recreation Department
will provide the staff and equipment to run the recycling program.

Sport participants and spectators are encouraged to recycle their
beverage containers as they enjoy events in the parks.

For more information, call Parks and Recreation at 874-7460.
