Leadership Program will recognize first crop of graduates

(COLUMBIA, MO) - Twenty-three Columbia residents will be
recognized Monday evening for their participation in the city’s first
Neighborhood Leadership Program. Participants will have dinner at the
ARC, 1701 West Ash, beginning at 5:30 p.m. followed by comments and
recognition by Mayor Darwin Hindman at 6 p.m. The program will continue
to 8:30 p.m. with presentations by Councilwoman Barbara Hoppe and Sean
Spence.
The Neighborhood Leadership Program is a six-week series aimed
at providing additional information on Columbia’s municipal government
and leadership development to those who serve in a leadership role in
their neighborhood organization or have an interest in being a leader.
Sessions included presentations on grassroots efforts in neighborhood
groups, working with city council and staff and an explanation of the
development process.
The program was guided by a committee of citizens and city staff
coordinated through the city’s Office of Volunteer Services. Those
wanting to learn more about the program and future series may call Leigh
Britt, volunteer coordinator, at 874-7504.
