City-wide sewer manhole rehabilitation project to begin

(COLUMBIA, MO) - The city of Columbia Public Works Department
announces that on Wednesday, Feb.11, Ace Pipe Cleaning Company will
begin a large-scale sewer manhole rehabilitation project throughout
Columbia. This is the first time the city has done a sewer manhole
rehabilitation project of this size. The goal is to reduce ground water
getting into the sewer system, which includes more than 600 manholes.
This project is being funded by the 2003 Sewer Ballot and will cost
approximately $400,000.
Short-term lane restrictions may occur periodically. Work should
be completed this summer, weather permitting. Motorists and pedestrians
are urged to exercise extreme caution when in the work zone and use an
alternate route whenever possible.
