Former police chief candidate issues statement

COLUMBIA, MO (January 13, 2009) - Saluda, South Carolina Police Chief
Michael J. Clancey today issued the following statement regarding his
withdrawal as a candidate for city of Columbia police chief. He issued
it through the consulting firm that’s helping manage the search
process.

“It is with regret that I am withdrawing from the police chief’s
interview process. The city of Columbia is an outstanding opportunity
for any law enforcement professional and I wish I could have continued
in the selection process. However, personal and other commitments
prevented that. I wish the city, police staff and residents the best
outcome for their new chief of police.”
