Fire at 4200 Rock Quarry update - cause undetermined

COLUMBIA, MO (January 28, 2009) - Columbia fire investigators have
completed the investigation concerning the fire at 4200 Rock Quarry Road
on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, which claimed the life of one man.

Fire investigators were faced with a task made difficult by the
complete destruction of the building and little evidence to work with. 

Fire investigators have officially listed the cause as undetermined.
Two possible causes which could not be ruled out were discarded smoking
materials and electrical malfunctions. 

Fire and law enforcement officials are still waiting for both
toxicology reports on the exact cause of death and for positive
identification of the male subject who perished in the fire.
