Public hearing for Old Route K Bridge

COLUMBIA, MO (January 28, 2009) - The Public Works Department announces
a public hearing for the reconstruction of the Old Route K Bridge. The
public hearing will be held Monday, Feb. 2, during the regularly
scheduled City Council meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. in the Council
Chambers, fourth floor of the Daniel Boone Building, 701 E. Broadway. 

The proposed project includes the reconstruction of the Old Route K
Bridge over Hinkson Creek, south of Reactor Park. The bridge includes
sidewalks on both sides and a trail crossing underneath, which connects
with the university trail system. 

Total cost for this project is $1.8 million. This project will be
funded by $300,000 from the Non-motorized Transportation Pilot Program
grant, $900,000 from Federal On-System Bridge Replacement &
Rehabilitation Program funds and the remainder from Capital Improvement
Sales Tax funds. Construction is expected for late 2009.
