Interstate 70 access closed on east end of Business Loop

(COLUMBIA, MO) -- A car hit a large electric transmission pole
on Business Loop 70 East, just east of Hathman Place, which has
restricted traffic to one lane. Motorists are being rerouted to Hathman
Place which connects with Paris Road. Access to Interstate 70 from
Business Loop 70 East is blocked. Motorists are urged to avoid the area,
especially during rush hour traffic.
Columbia Water and Light electric line crews are working to
repair the damaged pole and wire but it could be this evening before the
line is fixed. Electric Distribution staff is rerouting power from other
sources to maintain electric service. However, customers in this area
could experience brief power outages during the repair.
