Heavy rain causes flooding problems; residents advised to exercise
caution

COLUMBIA, MO (June 15, 2009) - The Columbia/Boone County Office of
Emergency Management (OEM) reports that this morning’s heavy rains
have created several problems for motorists and those living near
streams and creeks. The Joint Communications Center reports the closing
of Owens School Road in Northeastern Boone County, along with several
accidents caused by heavy rain. Motorists are advised to use caution
when driving this morning, and be especially alert for water on the
road, which can cause vehicles to hydroplane.

While Columbia and Boone County are not under any watches or warnings
at the present time, the Office of Emergency Management will continue to
monitor the situation and keep the media and public updated on the
weather-related problems, such as accidents and road closures. OEM an
updated list of road closures on our Web site,
