Potential remains for flooding; flood advisory in effect until 2:30
p.m.

COLUMBIA, MO (June 15, 2009) - Despite the end of the rain this
afternoon, the Columbia/Boone County Office of Emergency Management
(OEM) continues to advise caution to those who are traveling this
afternoon and this evening.

“The combination of this morning’s rain and the potential for more
rain tonight could pose problems for motorists,” said Interim OEM
Director Zim Schwartze. “Travel could be the most dangerous during the
overnight hours, especially around low water crossings. We urge anyone
driving this evening and tonight to be watchful of the weather and road
conditions. If heavy rain is falling, slow down. If water covers a
low-water crossing, find an alternate route of travel.”

An Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory remains in effect for Boone
County until 2:30 this afternoon. The advisory means that there could be
minor to moderate flooding of streets and small waterways. Schwartze
recommends that residents stay tuned to local media for the latest
weather information, and have a plan in place, in the event of severe
weather and flooding.
