Office of Emergency Management and Public Safety Joint Communications
to be at Tuesday’s 'Keys to the City' event

COLUMBIA, MO (October 23, 2009) - Officials and employees from the
Columbia/Boone County Office of Emergency Management (OEM), along with
Public Safety Joint Communications, will be among those on hand Tuesday
night, Oct. 27, for the annual “Keys to the City” event at Reichmann
Pavilion at Stevens Lake Park. The event will be held from 5-7 p.m., and
is presented by the city’s Office of Volunteer Services.

“We would like to invite the residents of Columbia to come by and see
what we’re all about,” says OEM and PSJC Director Zim Schwartze.
“Most of the public has their only contact with us during an
emergency. This event will give them a chance to meet some of our staff
face to face, in a much more casual atmosphere.”

In addition to its display, the Office of Emergency Management and
Public Safety Joint Communications will have a number of disaster
publications on hand. These pamphlets and books address a wide variety
of disasters, as well as how to prepare and react. The “Keys to the
City” event is free and open to the public.
