YouZeum Announces Starlight Bike Ramble

(COLUMBIA, MO) – The 2010 YouZeum Starlight Bike Ramble is scheduled to
take place Saturday, May 8 beginning at the YouZeum, 608 East Cherry
Street, at 8 p.m. The Bike Ramble is a leisurely and sociable bike ride
through downtown Columbia at dusk. The Ramble is not a race and is for
cyclists of all abilities.  
The fun begins at the YouZeum at 6 p.m. with the Mayor's Council on
Physical Fitness & Health's Expo, featuring education booths,
demonstrations and free health screenings. The Machens Family Fun Ride,
a shorter bike ride for families with young children, begins at 6:30
p.m, also at the YouZeum. 
The main route will take riders through downtown, past Stephens and
Columbia Colleges, with the highlight being a trip around the inside of
Faurot Field, before ending back at the YouZeum. Following the ride,
there will be snacks available and drawings for various prizes donated
by local businesses.
All participants must wear a helmet and have bike lights, which can be
as simple as taping a flashlight to the front of the bike. Early-bird
prices run through May 1, however those prices will be honored if
registration is completed at the YouZeum table at the Earth Day
celebration on Sunday, May 2.
In case of inclement weather, the Expo will be moved into the YouZeum.
The Machens Family Fun Ride and the Ramble will be held during light
rain. Both rides will be canceled for severe weather.
